Holy shit, you guys. This book. I don’t normally read dystopian romance because I tend to find it incredibly depressing. Not this one though, friends. This book is gritty and raw and real and so full of life - both the struggles and celebrations of it. I could not put it down. Watching Noelle evolve throughout the book, learn to voice not only what she needs, but what she WANTS, was so damned satisfying. Jasper is a dominant male both in and outside the bedroom, but he’s so damned careful, respectful, and thoughtful - which is how it’s supposed to be in these relationships.

Rocha does a masterful job of creating not only an amazing story, but also a vivid backdrop and INCREDIBLE characters. (Seriously, Ace, call me. You’re my new book boyfriend. 🔥) You’ll feel right at home with the O’Kanes. Which brings me to another important point that I loved. A man may be in charge of the O’Kanes, but the women rule it. They make their own choices, sexually and otherwise, and run their own lives. I love that Rocha gives her female characters all the real power in this book - even when they don’t always realize they have it.

If you like dystopian romance that is *just* this side of erotica with amazing characters, super sexy sex, and a HEA (or as much of one as you can get after the apocalypse), pick this one up. And then, when you get to the tattoo chair scene, MESSAGE ME BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT.

Beyond Shame has a little bit of everything: dom/sub relationships, bondage, spanking, group sex, sex toys, oral sex, penetrative sex, voyeurism, and some very heavy petting. That might seem intimidating to you if that’s not your normal literary fare, but Rocha has you well in hand the entire time. You’ll fly through this book, panting all the while. If you’re already a fan of BDSM, this one is not to be missed. If your opinion of BDSM has been colored entirely by 50 Shades, read this book and let it get you all straightened out on the subject.
